WordPress uses numerical coded URL’s to better serve the blog nature of the platform.  It makes some funny looking URL’s so it’s a good idea to use “pretty permalinks” that display the page or post title instead.  Seems like somebody should have mentioned that in the setup, and I have read that it is a very common mistake.  So if you use WordPress, go to your Dashboard and open Settings/Permalinks and select the Post name structure.  It’s apparently the one used on the top sites in the blogosphere. It shows and is the best way to give your site simple and memorable URLs.
