I played ten years in the Major Leagues with Atlanta, Toronto, and Seattle. As a lifelong student of baseball, I've taught hitting for more than 30 years, including five years at my Baseball Techincal School (co-founded with Jeff Knox).
With a background in writing from the School of Journalism at Ohio State University, I enjoy a broad scope of experience. After baseball, I was an airline pilot, then a contract negotiator for a national medical equipment company, and then the owner of my own import company.
As a writer I've found my skills useful in many disciplines. Authoring proposals to large insurance carriers helped me secure service contracts worth millions of dollars. My experience includes writing business plans and marketing plans for a variety of projects including licensed trade goods.
Familiar with branding and promotions on a large scale, I’ve spent many hours both behind cameras and in front of them. While playing in Atlanta, I learned the cable television business from Ted Turner where I served as talent for commercials as well as a camera operator both in studio and on location.
I divested my business interests in favor of writing full time and am now committed to developing a successful writing career. My personal memoir, Steel Ribbons is finished and has been submitted to several agents.
I tested a story from my memoir by submitting it as a stand-alone piece to FLYING Magazine and it was published in their May 2006, issue with the title, Coal Flattop. Full rights returned to me 90 days after publication.
